Who Can Apply?

  • You must have a National Diploma or Degree in Disaster Management, Public Administration, or Office Administration, or another relevant qualification.

  • You should be computer literate, comfortable with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and especially able to use Google Earth for GIS tasks.

This internship isn’t just about gaining experience; it’s also about supporting you! Here’s what the Disaster Management Internship Programme offers:

  • A full 1-year contract to give you substantial professional experience.
  • A fantastic annual stipend of R75,600.00 (that’s all-inclusive!).
  • You’ll be placed at one of three key locations: Paarl, Worcester, or Robertson in the Western Cape, getting exposure to different community needs.

During your internship, you’ll be assisting the Division: Disaster Management with a range of crucial tasks, including:

  • Responding to incidents and disasters as they happen.
  • Compiling vital Disaster Management reports.

  • Coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Supporting the implementation of initiatives that reduce disaster risks.
  • Liaising with key role-players on incidents and early warning systems.
  • Assisting in running essential training and awareness programmes for the community.
