Who Can Apply?

Sage is all about investing in bright minds. Here’s who they’re looking for:

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You should identify as a previously disadvantaged individual (PDI).
  • You need to be currently in Matric or have already completed your Matric.
  • You plan to study or are already studying an undergraduate degree in 2026 in one of these hot fields at a recognised public university in South Africa:
    • Accounting and Finance (BCom)
    • Computer Engineering
    • Computer Science
    • Information Technology
  • Good news for students with disabilities! If you have a disability, you can apply for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in ANY field of study!
  • If you’re still in Matric, aim for at least 75% in Mathematics and Physical Science.
  • If you’re already at university, you need a consistent overall average of 65%.
  • Your total household income should be between R350,000 and R500,000 per year. If it’s less than R350,000, you should have applied for NSFAS and been unsuccessful.
  • A special note: Preference will definitely be given to students with disabilities – so if that’s you, make sure to highlight it!

What Does It Cover?

This bursary is super generous and aims to ease your financial burden significantly! If successful, the Sage Bursary will cover:

  • Your full tuition fees (up to a capped amount).
  • Essential stationery and books.
  • Accommodation, whether it’s in a university residence or approved private accommodation.

  3. You’ll need to submit clear copies of these documents with your online application. Don’t miss any – they’re compulsory!
    • A clear, recent photograph of yourself (head and shoulders).
    • Your South African ID document (certified copy, please!).
    • If you’re currently in Matric: your Grade 11 final results AND your Matric June results.
    • If you’ve already finished Matric: your Matric certificate.
    • If you’re already at university: your full academic record and your latest results (e.g., June 2025 exam results or a progress report).
    • Proof of your parents’ or guardians’ household income:
      • Latest payslips if they are employed.
      • An affidavit if they are unemployed.
      • An affidavit stating annual income if self-employed, or their most recent audited financial statement/3 months’ most recent bank statements if they own a business.
      • SASSA letter stating grants received, if applicable.
    • If your parents are deceased: their death certificates.
    • If your parents are divorced: a letter from the court stating child support amounts. If separated, an affidavit from the parent stating the child support received.
    • If you have a disability: an official doctor’s medical report or note.
