About the SACAA Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Bursary 2026

Do you dream of working behind the scenes to keep aircraft safe and operational? If you have a passion for aviation engineering but lack the financial means to pursue it, the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is here to help.

The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Bursary Programme offers an incredible opportunity for technically inclined youth to gain qualifications, tools, and practical exposure in the aviation sector.


What the Bursary Covers

  • Full tuition and registration fees
  • Tools, textbooks, and learning materials
  • Accommodation
  • Monthly stipend
  • Practical training and mentorship with certified aviation engineers

Who Should Apply

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens aged 18 – 35 years
  • Be currently in Matric or have completed Grade 12 with:
    • At least Level 5 in Pure Mathematics
    • At least Level 5 in Physical Science
  • Have acceptance or provisional acceptance into an accredited Aeronautical Engineering programme
  • Show financial need
  • Be passionate about engineering, aviation, and innovation

Required Documents (MANDATORY)

Applicants must submit the following:

  1. Certified ID copy
  2. Motivation Letter
  3. Matric Certificate or Latest Grade 12 results
  4. Proof of financial need (e.g. household income documents)
