Industrial Relations Specialist

Our client seeks an experienced Industrial Relations Specialist to manage and oversee industrial relations strategies, ensure compliance with labor laws, and foster positive relationships with trade unions and other employee representatives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for trade unions and negotiating collective bargaining agreements
  • Ensuring organizational compliance with labor legislation, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and Labour Relations Act
  • Managing and resolving grievances and disputes between employees and management through effective negotiation and mediation
  • Conducting training sessions for management and employees on industrial relations, conflict resolution, and labor laws
  • Monitoring and analyzing labor trends, union activities, and employee satisfaction

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field
  • Minimum of4-5 years of experience in industrial relations, with a proven track record of working directly with trade unions
  • Strong understanding of South African labor laws, regulations, and industrial relations practices
  • Being an admitted attorney will be an added advantage
