About the Coronation Exceptional Student Bursary

The Coronation Exceptional Student Bursary is a fully funded programme aimed at supporting high-potential learners who intend to pursue Commerce-related undergraduate degrees at South African public universities. It is specifically geared towards students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds who demonstrate leadership potential and academic excellence.

The bursary provides comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Prescribed books
  • Accommodation
  • Meals
  • Living allowance
  • Additional study-related expenses

Upon graduation, successful candidates will enter into a work-back contract with Coronation, gaining valuable industry experience and career development opportunities.


Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be currently in Grade 12 (Matric) or have completed it
  • Be studying or intend to study full-time toward a Commerce-related undergraduate degree
  • Be accepted or enrolled at a recognised and accredited South African public university (not a TVET, private, or community college)
  • Have a strong academic record:
    • Matric students: minimum 75% average
    • University students: minimum 70% average
  • Demonstrate leadership potential
  • Be well-rounded with community or extracurricular involvement
  • Preference will be given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds

Required Supporting Documents:

  • Certified ID copy
  • Grade 11 final & latest Matric results (if still in school)
  • Certified Matric certificate (if completed)
  • University acceptance letter (optional)
  • Proof of registration or transcript (if already studying)
  • 1-page motivation letter
  • Letter of recommendation (non-relative)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Proof of household income (latest payslips, affidavits, or SASSA/pension proof)
  • NSFAS/bursary agreement (if applicable)
  • Students under 18: Parent/guardian consent form and certified ID
  • If disabled: EEA1 form and a doctor’s letter

Note: All documents must be certified within the last 3 months. Multiple documents should be combined into one file for upload.


Selection Process

  • All applicants will receive an email confirming receipt of their application.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews and psychometric testing.
  • Final selection will be based on academic merit, leadership, and motivation.
