Bursary Description

The Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund invites South African students to apply for the LPFF Bursary Programme for the 2026 and 2027 academic year.

Bursary Application Closing Date: 15 August 2025 at 12:00


Bursary Location: South Africa (National – all recognised universities)


Who Should Apply?

Undergraduate Law Students:

  • South African citizens or permanent residents
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be in 2nd or 3rd year of LLB studies
  • Must be studying at a recognised South African university
  • Must have 2 or fewer years remaining to complete the LLB
  • Preference given to financially needy and academically strong students

Postgraduate Law Students:

  • South African citizens or permanent residents
  • Must be a practising attorney or candidate attorney
  • Must have completed a relevant undergraduate law qualification (e.g. BA Law, B Com Law, BProc, or revised 4-year LLB)
  • Must be studying at a recognised South African university

What the Bursary Covers:

The bursary will contribute towards tuition fees. The award amount is determined annually by the Fund and approved by the Minister of Justice.

Undergraduate applicants must submit:

  • Passport-size photo (attached to form)
  • Certified ID or permanent residence document
  • Academic transcript including first semester 2025 results (on letterhead)
  • Proof of acceptance from university
  • Testimonial from Dean of Faculty of Law

Postgraduate applicants must submit:

  • Passport-size photo (attached to form)
  • Certified ID or permanent residence document
  • Complete academic transcript and qualifications (on letterhead)
  • Latest salary slip
  • Dean’s testimonial
  • Proof of any other bursary or financial aid
