Gabriel Dumont Scholarship Foundation Applications Now Open

As of March 15, 2025, the application portal is open for the Gabriel Dumont Scholarship Foundation programs. All applications must be received through the web portal by no later than 11:59 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025. Transcripts will be accepted up to 14 days past the deadline however, if transcripts are not received by this date, your scholarship applications will automatically be deemed incomplete. Cindy Hanson-Burnouf is the new Scholarship & Special Projects Coordinator for the Gabriel Dumont Institute, and she will be available to answer any of your questions by contacting scholarships@gdins.org.

The Gabriel Dumont Institute has been administering scholarships for Saskatchewan’s Métis through the Gabriel Dumont Scholarship Foundation since the early 1980s. The scholarship fund is based on a $2.5 million capital investment, and scholarships are awarded based on the interest earned on the fund’s principle and through individual corporate partnership donations. Scholarships are awarded to Métis students who are Saskatchewan residents registered as full-time students at an accredited post-secondary institution.

There are over a dozen different scholarships available, and students must complete an application form for each scholarship that they are eligible for. The different scholarship programs are intended to recognize leadership, academic ability, financial need, and community involvement of students who meet the eligibility criteria for any or all scholarship programs. Most scholarships are open to Métis students pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited institution up to the undergraduate level. The Gabriel Dumont College Graduate Student Bursary is open to Métis graduate students pursuing education at the Master’s or Doctorate level.
