Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for this exciting opportunity, you need to be an early-career professional with a passion for, or expertise in, co-production methods related to climate services. Here’s what else you need to know:
- You must be a national of one of the eligible African countries listed below.
- You can be based at your current academic institution, provided it’s in a WISER-supported country and meets the necessary requirements.
- If you don’t have a current affiliation, you’ll need to confirm your hosting arrangements before applying.
- Note for West Africa: Fellows for this region will be based at AGRHYMET in Niamey, Niger.
Here are the eligible countries by region:
East Africa: Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Southern Africa: Angola, Botswana, the Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
West Africa: Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and Senegal.
What Does It Cover?
This fellowship is designed to equip you with the skills and experience to become a true co-production champion. Here’s what you can expect to gain and contribute:
- You’ll provide crucial co-production expertise in your region, supporting key organizations like Regional Climate Centres and National Meteorological and Hydrological Services.
- You’ll get to engage directly with stakeholders to co-design priorities that will inform future climate-focused development funding. Talk about making an impact!
- There’s a strong research component too: you’ll conduct research on co-production, stakeholder engagement, indigenous knowledge, or communication strategies.
- You’ll contribute to WISER-wide learning, sharing your insights on best co-production practices.
- Plus, you’ll receive awesome support from regional and international co-production experts, including dedicated training and peer learning sessions across all three regions.

- If you’re shortlisted, interviews are scheduled for the weeks of 1 and 8 September 2025.
