South African Table Grape Industry SATGI Bursaries

Bursary Details

Bursaries are awarded annually to South African students, who demonstrate a keen desire to pursue careers in the table grape industry – or supporting industries. Preference will be given to land reform beneficiaries and their children.

The following study fields will be considered:

  • Viticulture
  • Plant Pathology
  • Entomology
  • Soil Science
  • Agricultural Economy

The bursary opportunities are either full, partial, or work-back bursaries.

Candidate Requirements

  • Individuals looking to pursue a career in the table grape industry and/or its value chain.
  • Studying fulltime or part-time at a registered tertiary academic institution in South Africa
  • Individuals who have achieved above average (minimum D) academic results.
  • Preference will be given to students going into their second year of study, or above.
  • The SATI bursary fund is open for application by any qualifying individual. Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, land reform beneficiaries and their children, farmworkers and their children, especially those already involved in the table grape industry. (Meeting the above requirements)
  • Postgraduate applications will be screened, assessed, and recommended by SATI’s Research Manager based on criteria including importance & priority to the industry. Applicants should therefore provide sufficient detail regarding the research project and supervisor to be considered

  • Proof preliminary acceptance or acceptance at an accredited tertiary institution
  • Postgraduate applicants must provide a research proposal and acceptance thereof by researchers. Students who will be part of an industry related research project will receive preference.
