Financial services facilitator, EasyPay Everywhere, has announced the launch of a new initiative that will be of interest to the children of its customers who wish to pursue studies in STEM-related subjects or fields.
This Bursary is exclusive to the children or dependents of active EasyPay Everywhere customers, the company confirmed.
Bursaries are available to students currently studying in fields related to Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, Mechatronics, Software Development, Computer Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Business Analysis, Econometrics, Mathematics, and Statistics, it added.
The Tech Skills Bursary will offer up to R100 000 per year for registration costs and tuition fees, in a bid to ensure that students have the financial support they need to be able to focus on their studies. A total of nine bursaries will be awarded to students who meet the criteria, including having already completed at least their first year of study with an average of 65 percent or higher.
“EasyPay Everywhere’s goal with these bursaries is to support South African families and give talented young people a chance to succeed. By helping pay for their studies, these talented and hard-working young people can build themselves up to be the country’s future tech leaders,” the company outlined in a release shared with Hypertext.
“We know that many of our customers want to see their children succeed but face financial barriers. This bursary is our way of helping them give their younger family members the chance to reach their full potential in a field that’s growing fast. We want to make sure that the children of our customers have the opportunities they deserve,” added Simphiwe Phakathi, executive head of Sales and Distribution at EasyPay Everywhere.
In terms of applying, those students who meet the criteria can apply by submitting an online application form, along with their academic records, and other necessary documents. Applications are open now, and close on 30th November 2024, with no late applications being considered.
