In this role, you will provide essential administrative support to our underwriting team across both Personal and Commercial Lines of short-term insurance. About the Role

As an Underwriting Administrator, your main goal will be to streamline operations and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines. You’ll play a crucial role in managing policies and providing exceptional support to help our underwriters succeed.

Your Key Responsibilities

Policy Administration:

– Support underwriters with all administrative tasks for personal and commercial insurance lines.

– Process new policies, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations accurately.

– Review applications to ensure they meet all underwriting requirements.

– Maintain and update policy records diligently within the system.

Data Management:

– Accurately enter client and policy information into the underwriting system.

– Assist in collecting and compiling necessary documents for underwriting reviews.

– Keep detailed records of policy changes, customer communications, and endorsements.

Customer Service:

– Communicate professionally with brokers, agents, and clients to gather information or clarify details.

– Respond to inquiries about insurance policies, coverage, and underwriting processes.

– Follow up on outstanding documentation and keep all stakeholders informed.

Compliance & Reporting:

– Ensure all documentation adheres to company policies and regulatory requirements.

– Prepare and submit underwriting reports to management as needed.

– Monitor policy adherence to internal underwriting standards.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Qualifications:

– Matric certificate (essential)

– BCom Degree

– Relevant regulatory exams and industry-specific certifications (e.g., FAIS, RE5)

Experience:

– Minimum of 2+ years of administrative experience within the short-term insurance sector, specifically with exposure to both personal and commercial lines.

– Previous direct experience working within an underwriting department is essential.

Skills & Knowledge:

– Strong understanding of short-term insurance products, especially personal and commercial lines.

– Excellent administrative skills with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

– Proficiency in insurance management systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.

– Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.

– A true team player, able to collaborate effectively with underwriters and other departments.
