ENGINEER PRODUCTION: ELECTRICAL
The Department of Infrastructure Development, Health Infrastructure and Technical Portfolio Service, is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Production Engineer to join their dedicated team in Johannesburg.
About the Opportunity
This is a challenging and rewarding full-time permanent position for a professional dedicated to public service infrastructure development. There is one (1) post available.

- Salary: R 879,342.00 – R 1,323,267.00 per annum (All-inclusive Package). This package comprises a basic salary (70%) and a flexible portion (30%) structured in accordance with applicable rules, which includes the state’s contribution to the Government Employees Pension Fund (13% of basic salary). The final offer will be based on recognized experience after obtaining professional registration.
Key Responsibilities
As an Electrical Production Engineer, your primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Planning, designing, operating, and maintaining various engineering projects.
- Developing and implementing cost-effective solutions in strict adherence to relevant standards.
- Evaluating existing technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures to integrate new technologies.
- Developing comprehensive tender specifications for infrastructure projects.
- Ensuring that all planning and design work, whether conducted internally or by external parties, meets sound engineering principles, norms, standards, and codes of practice.
- Approving engineering works in line with prescribed norms and standards.
- Contributing to the training and development of technicians, technologists, and candidate engineers to foster skills transfer and adherence to sound engineering practices.
- Supervising engineering work processes and administering performance management and development.
- Effectively managing resources, including preparing and consolidating inputs for optimal resource utilization.
- Ensuring strict adherence to regulations and procedures governing procurement and personnel administration.
- Monitoring and controlling expenditure, and providing regular reports on financial performance and service delivery.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualifications: An Engineering degree (B Eng / BSc (Eng)) in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of post-qualification experience in Engineering is essential.
- Professional Registration: Must be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
