The Department of Infrastructure Development in Gauteng is looking for a qualified and experienced Electrical Production Engineer to join their Engineering Services team in Johannesburg. Your Role as an Electrical Production Engineer
As an Electrical Production Engineer, you will be crucial in planning, designing, operating, and maintaining various engineering projects. You will ensure that all electrical works meet the highest standards, are cost-effective, and incorporate new technologies. This role involves both technical expertise and leadership responsibilities, including the training and development of junior engineers and managing project resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, operate, and maintain diverse engineering projects with a focus on electrical systems.
- Develop cost-effective engineering solutions that adhere to established standards and codes of practice.
- Evaluate and update technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures to integrate new technologies.
- Prepare detailed tender specifications for engineering projects.
- Review and approve engineering designs and works, ensuring compliance with norms and standards.
- Mentor and develop technicians, technologists, and candidate engineers, promoting knowledge transfer and adherence to sound engineering principles.
- Supervise engineering work processes and manage team performance and development.
- Manage project resources efficiently, including financial and personnel administration.
- Monitor and control project expenditure, reporting on financial performance and service delivery.
What You Need to Qualify
- An Engineering Degree (B Eng / BSc (Eng)) in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in an Engineering role.
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- A valid driver’s license is required.
Package and Benefits
This position offers an attractive all-inclusive annual package ranging from R 879,342.00 to R 1,323,267.00 per annum. This translates to approximately R73,278.50 – R110,272.25 per month. This package includes a basic salary (70%) and a flexible portion (30%) that can be structured according to applicable rules, including the state’s contribution to the Government Employees Pension Fund.
