Who We’re Looking For (Requirements)

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current registration with the HPCSA as an independent Radiographer in Radiation Oncology.
  • Appropriate qualifications that allow registration with the HPCSA as a Radiographer.
  • At least four (4) years of relevant experience as a Radiographer after registering with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • Strong knowledge of radiotherapy standard techniques, protocols, equipment, and accessories, including specialized techniques.
  • Understanding of basic quality assurance in Radiotherapy, radiation effects, and patient radiation protection.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (computer literate).

What You’ll Do (Duties)

As a Radiation Oncology Radiographer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing all basic radiation planning and treatment preparation tasks.
  • Administering patient treatments in strict accordance with departmental protocols based on local and international research.
  • Actively participating in academic activities within the department.
  • Being responsible for precise localization planning and accurate delivery of radiation treatment to patients with neoplasms (cancers).
  • Providing essential physical and emotional support to patients throughout their treatment journey.
  • Conducting daily and weekly quality assurance checks on equipment and procedures.
  • Handling various administrative duties as required.
  • Assisting and guiding students during their clinical work to help them develop their radiography skills.
