Manager: Student Recruitment – (2130)
The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is searching for a dynamic and inspiring Manager of Student Recruitment to join their Student Enrolment Management Unit (SEMU). This critical role aims to help the university achieve its student enrolment goals by developing and executing effective student recruitment and marketing strategies.

About the Role
As the Manager: Student Recruitment, you will report directly to the Director of the Student Enrolment Management Unit. Your main responsibility will be to lead and support UWC’s efforts in attracting and recruiting students in line with the university’s strategic enrolment targets and national mandates.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director in compiling and evaluating student recruitment plans and strategies.
- Manage and monitor the implementation of chosen recruitment strategies, providing formal monitoring and review reports.
- Coordinate and manage promotional activities for outbound school visits, career exhibitions, and other recruitment events according to the recruitment plan.
- Advise prospective students on available programmes and highlight admission requirements during career activities.
- Manage student enquiries, including referring them and improving enquiry systems in collaboration with the Student Recruitment Administrator.
- Assist with all other inbound student recruitment activities as required. Please note: a valid driver’s licence is essential, and willingness to undertake local and international travel is required.
- Network effectively with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to an ethos of collaboration, teamwork, and excellence within the Unit.
Minimum Requirements
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 7.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong proficiency with digital media is a key requirement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative.
- Flexibility to adapt and work effectively in various environments and with diverse people, tasks, and responsibilities.
- The ability to build relationships and work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
