Position Summary

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is a vibrant and cosmopolitan institution, guided by its bold UJ Strategy 2035. We are seeking a Professor/Associate Professor to join the Faculty of Law: Department of Public Law.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules, supervise postgraduate students, conduct and publish research, and take on administrative and committee roles.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Public Law
  • Supervising postgraduate students
  • Conducting and publishing research in accredited journals and books
  • Taking on administrative and committee roles
  • Mentoring emerging staff
  • Attracting and sustaining fundraising initiatives
  • Participating in community engagement initiatives

Minimum Requirements

A doctoral degree in Public Law and at least 5 years of lecturing experience are required. A strong publication track record and commitment to research-led teaching are essential.
